Justin has been happily married to his wife Sarah, for 21 years. Together, they have two teenage daughters, and as a family, they love spending time outdoors. Justin is starting his third season as a paddlefish guide, a role he absolutely loves because it combines his passion for fishing and meeting new people.

When he’s not on the water, he serves as a firefighter, a job he has proudly done for over 16 years. Justin feels truly fortunate to have such a fulfilling life, surrounded by the best family and friends while working in roles he deeply enjoys.

Steve’s lifelong passion for fishing began during his childhood, spent around Grand Lake, where his parents had a lake home. At just seven years old, Steve was navigating the waters in a 16-foot Blue Star with a Johnsons 18hp outboard motor. 

He spent his days fishing and his nights running trotlines with the light of his trusty Coleman lantern. This early immersion in the world of fishing would become a lifelong pursuit.

In 1988, Steve expanded his fishing adventures with an 18-foot flat bottom boat powered by a 40 hp tiller steer. He ventured into new territory on Grand Lake particularly the Twin Bridges area where the Neosho and Spring rivers converge. This spot is renowned for its phenomenal spring white bass fishing.

It was here that Steve first encountered the monstrous fish known as a spoonbill or paddlefish. Captivated by these incredible creatures, he dedicated the next 30 years to studying their habitats and migration patterns to ensure successful guide trips.

With advancements in fishing technology, Steve has continually refined his techniques for harvesting large paddlefish. Steve is a strong advocate for catch-and-release practices, contributing to the conservation efforts promoted by the Oklahoma Wildlife Department.

Steve feels incredibly fortunate to be part of some of the world’s best paddlefish fisheries, thanks to these conservation practices. He takes immense joy in helping anglers land the fish of a lifetime and eagerly looks forward to the next 20 years of fishing adventures. Steve’s dedication to the sport and his respect for these prehistoric monsters have made him a respected and influential figure in the fishing community.
